Wampum Bucks, A Great Idea for Christmas!

Christmas is getting closer and what better way to reward your employees than Wampum Bucks. Do you need a gift for a customer, family or friend? What better way to support your community and county than with Wampum Bucks. It helps not only our local businesses, but the local economy as well.

Wampum Bucks can be purchased in $5 increments at the Trego County Treasurer's office located at 216 North Main Street in WaKeeney, Kansas or call ahead of time at 785-743-2001, so the Buck will be ready for pick-up.

The holder of Wampum Bucks is responsible for loss, theft, or destruction. They cannot be replaced. The expiration date is located at the bottom left-hand corner of the buck.

You can use these bucks at local restaurants, auto parts stores, animal clinic, hair salons, doctors office, gasoline, insurance companies, groceries, etc. The possibilities are endless. Use the bucks just like cash with most businesses in Trego County only.

Any business or merchant that has questions, please contact the Treasurer's office.

A Controlled Burn Protocol has been put into place in cooperation of the Trego County Rural Fire Department, Trego County Emergency Management and the Trego County Communications Department.
Even though the burn ban has been lifted, anyone that is burning outside of a trash barrel must call the Trego County Communications Office at 785-743-5721 to request permission to burn before it can be started. If you have questions on the controlled burn policies they are posted on the Trego County Rural Fire page
Anyone not getting permission prior to burning could be subject to citation and fines. Certain conditions must be met before permission will be given, including wind speed, fire index and other conditions. All burns must be started after sunrise and completed before sunset and be constantly monitored while burning.
